Cosmic Rack Software meeting minutes

The TOB cosmic rack is an intermediate step between a single rod and the full TOB tracker and will consist of twenty TOB rods with two scintillators. It will be used for system and integration tests. I am in charge of the software coordination, and Michael Eppard is in charge of the hardware coordination. A large variety of material exists about the Cosmic Rack and the software used. You can find more information on the linked page. On the right you can see a screenshot of a 3D-Animation of the Cosmic Rack which has been done on a Saturday night. The animation has been developed with KPovModeler and calculated with the Persistence of Vision ray tracer.

The simulation is far from complete:
  • The frame is a solid piece.
  • The modules consist only of hybrids and sensors occupying the full space.
  • The rods are equipped with only three modules (no top/bottom).
  • Cables, ICC's, Optohybrid's etc. are missing.
  • The second row of the Cosmic Rack is not tilted.
You can download the cosmic rack animation (size 2.6M, resolution 800x600).
